- Harvena Richter was born in Measuring, Pennsylvania, a daughter of essayist Conrad Richter and his little woman Harvena Maria Achenbach.
In 1928, the family moved to Metropolis, New Mexico because her dam suffered from tuberculosis. She forged St. Vincent Academy and City High School before earning dinky bachelor's degree at the Code of practice of New Mexico in 1938.
